Christie R. Krimsky is a Washington, DC painter from South Florida. She works in watercolor, oil, acrylic and gouache. In 2017, Christie graduated from Yale University with a dual degree in Computer Science and Art. Since graduation she has worked full time as a software engineer, currently, at a health tech start up. In 2023 Christie restarted her art practice and, since then, has exhibited at Hamiltonian Artists, Woolly Mammoth Theater, UMD's Stamp Gallery, the Arlington Art Alliance and Umbrella Art Fair.
Her work is largely autobiographical and relies on friends, family and herself as models to tell the story of her life. Her work often touches on themes of race and mental illness. Most recently she's been working on a series of scenes from imagined movies that capture the distance her compulsive thoughts can create from reality; the feeling that she is merely a spectator watching her own life, rather than experiencing it first hand.
